1. Witsae-oreum
Standing firm amidst Hallasan’s greatest plateau, Witsae-oreum provides a view towards Baengnokdam Lake Summit, and includes Seonjakjiwat, the ‘mountain top garden’, and Manse Hill, which becomes a silver-white snow field in the winter.
Witsae-oreum greets visitors with bright pink Korean rhododendron (teoljindallaes, Rhododendron mucronulatum var. ciliatum Nakai), Korean azalea (sancheoljjuk, Rhododendron yedoense var. poukhanense), seolaengcho (Primula modesta var. fauriae (franch.) Takeda), Korean gentian (huingeuneul yongdam trees, Gentiana pseudo-aquatica Kusnezoff), hallajangguchae (Silene fasciculata Nakai), and many other fine specimens of Hallasan’s native plants. There are colorful leaves in autumn, and in the winter, the whole area invites visitors to become part of a winter fairy tale under the beautiful winter sky.
